- MVW Hotel and Restaurant History -
It was in 1984 that MVW was put up. It was named MVW Chicken Haus & Restaurant. We were the one who introduced the Original Lechon Manok here in Roxas City and it has click to the public. It is small place where in we have a restaurant and barbeque counter wherein we have the lechon manok and all kinds of chicken barbeque from wings, neck, pecho, paa, liver and gizzard including chicken feet. In fact we are the only restaurant here in this area – Roxas Avenue, in front of the hospital and the school. During that time there is only a few business establishments in this area. After a year or two small businesses establishment pop up.
By 1987 due to expansion of business we put up the 2nd floor wherein we catered seminar and other occasions to increase our sales, it also served as extension of our restaurant. In our restaurant, we specialized in Filipino – Chinese Cuisine and our specialty of the house is the lechon manok. We also cater Lauriat in which we serve all Chinese food one at a time.
Five years is so fast that for all we know this area seems to be very
busy and it is already a commercial area due to the increase of
population and increase of the students. We decided to expand our
business in the adjacent place.
In year 1990 we rented a house and convert it into a restaurant. This house is quite big and almost all dignitaries before, visited this house of the owner’s political influence. We put up native cottages in front which is enticing to the customer and we are the first one to put up native cottages in Roxas Avenue. Still we use the MVW Chicken Haus. Here we use the house as a restaurant and entertainment place. We have a nightly entertainment with singer, organist, guitarist and ballroom disco. Again we are the pioneer of ballroom dancing with band the Aero Smoke Band. We also catered parties for all occasions like Weddings, Baptismal, Debut, Birthdays, Meetings, Seminars and Conferences.
In 1996, there are lots of improvements here in Roxas City and also
will be going with the trends especially in business. We need more rooms
for improvements. So, we decided to put up a bigger space to
accommodate the demands of business and cater a bigger number of guest
and customer. We demolished the old house although it’s a landmark of
the old residence here in Roxas City but then there is a need for it. So
we built a three (3) storey building with a big function hall named Melissa's Hall that can
accommodate 100-250 guests and one small function room called Vanessa's Function Room with 50 persons.
In order to continue our business we finish first the first floor and
then later we have the 2nd floor for the hotel with 15 rooms all
air-conditioned with complete amenities. The name MVW Chicken Haus was
change to MVW Restaurant & Tourist Inn. The 3 capital letters stand
for the initial of our 3 children, Melissa, Vanessa and Wilfred Neil Yap
and we are the parents Wilfredo Lim Yap and Daisylynn Tenefrancia Yap. Lately, we added additional medium-sized function room that can accommodate 70 persons and was named WLY Function Room.
In the year 2014 when we started to partially construct the third floor. Part by part, it was finished until with God's grace, in 2016 we finally launch our Grand Pavilion which can accommodate up to 500 persons for different occasions such as conventions, seminars, weddings, debuts, birthdays and a lot more.
MVW Restaurant & Tourist Inn now stand a complete
building and will continue to progress and give service to the people of Capiz.
